The Mermaid Vacation Home Everyone Wants To Stay In

The Mermaid Vacation Home Everyone Wants To Stay In

The iconic Casa Caracol is found on the shore of a Mexican beach like it came straight out of the sea. It's no wonder that it's a world-famous home that is usually booked up months ahead of time, especially in high season. It's located in Isla Mujeres, just off the east coast of Mexico and is a boat ride away from Cancun. The unique home is located in a remote area away from the main tourist spots. So guests can be sure that they will have the most relaxing time away. It's in a gated property, and the owners/architects live right next door. The listing on Airbnb is for the entire home for only about $326 per night. Guests have access to their own private pool, two king beds, kitchenette and BBQ. The perfect place for a couple or up to four people to spend an amazing vacation. It's a private retreat like no other that gives you a luxurious yet down to earth Mexican vacation experience. It's a building that people admire as they walk by and people also admire it online as well making it very desirable. The vacation home is reachable from Cancun International Airport and then from Puerto Juarez or Playa Tortugas.

The smaller shell has the king sized bed and a private bathroom with a shower; there is also a TV. The larger shell features a sitting area downstairs and a kitchen with a large fridge, a microwave, a gas stovetop and a sink so guests can enjoy making their own meals if they want. There's also a nice comfortable and sunken sitting area with a TV. The master bedroom with another king sized bed is upstairs with another private bathroom with a shower. The cool thing about the showers in the Casa Caracol is that the shower head is a shell which fits with the shell theme so perfectly. There are also sea shells adorning the mirrors and the sink area too. The pool area is an oasis and would be the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sun, and the beach is a 15-minute cart ride away. So what was the inspiration behind the home? Raquel and Eduardo Ocampo designed the home to look like the many shells that were found around the island. They also learned a legend from the island that a fisherman from Isla Holbox and a fisherman from Isla Mujeres were boasting about their islands. The one from Isla Holbox said that they have the biggest fish in the world, while the one from Isla Mujeres came back saying that they have the largest seashell in the world. He elaborated on the story saying that there was enough meat in the shell to feed the entire island, and now people stay in it too.

The house was built using concrete and found materials by Raquel and Eduardo themselves. Its design is very organic with no corners creating a completely round home that feels natural and in sync with the surrounding scenery. There are details of the sea throughout the home including the shell themed bathrooms and all of the beautiful artwork throughout the home that embraces a water theme using blues, light peach colours and white. There are even tables that are constructed out of concrete made to look like shells as well with glass table tops for a light and airy feel within the home. This is one of those vacation rentals that books up pretty quickly, so make sure you book your stay well in advance so you can get it at the time you want. And get ready to experience the vacation of a lifetime.
