If you’re looking to buy or build a home, you need to search all of your options so you can make the best choice for yourself and you family. There are a few different options to choose from when it comes to the style of home you live in. Of course, there’s the typical house, a bungalow or a two-story home which would be considered the conventional style of housing. Then, there are duplexes, townhouses, and condos.
Another option is park model homes or mobile homes, which are often located in their own communities and provide affordable housing. Tiny houses on wheels are also becoming a very popular option for many people, and although there may be similarities between tiny houses and park models, they are also quite different in some aspects.
Hygge Houze Magazine:
Tiny houses are still not really defined as of yet, and there is a lot of gray area surrounding the regulations and bylaws around them. Whereas park model housing and other types of modular homes already have regulations in place since they have been around for longer than tiny houses on wheels. Park Model homes can also be moved, just like a tiny house on wheels, but the park models will usually require a more intensive process to be moved. They will need a professional team to pull the home and pilots to navigate down the highways and roads. Tiny houses can be pulled by regular heavy duty trucks depending on the size, and since they fit in the road requirements, they are usually able to be hauled without a permit.
The reason people prefer park models or modular houses is that they are larger in square footage. The average park model is 400 square feet, while the average tiny house on wheels is around 200 square feet in size. Prefab park model houses are usually built for you in a controlled environment which assures you of their quality. A park model can often be a good choice for those who are downsizing or considering a vacation cabin. With park model homes you don't have to go through the construction process since the homes are delivered complete to any location.
This particular park model home features two bedrooms, a full bathroom, and an open-plan living area. The trailer is 14-feet wide and the home has wooden finishes on both the exterior and interior. First of all, you'll notice the nice wide deck area which would be the perfect place to relax and destress. With the wooden siding on the exterior, this park model may even resemble a log cabin once it's all set up in a natural setting. The inside of the cabin is just as nice as the outside, finished with wood in the panelled walls, hardwood floors and cabinets.
The living room is large enough to fit a sectional sofa and the kitchen is arranged along one wall with enough space for all of the regular appliances a home needs. There's also enough room for a dining area as well. The master bedroom can fit a queen-sized bed and also has built-in cabinets to store away clothing. The other bedroom has some bunk beds which makes it possible to sleep up to three people in the room. The model also features a nice bathroom with a bathtub and a shower. The wooden panelling continues in the bathroom which makes it feel somewhat like a sauna.
Park models provide a convenient prefab option for people wanting to build their own home or cabin to use seasonally. It's a good idea to check with local bylaws and codes when it comes to placing a park model, and check if you can indeed live in it permanently. Park model homeowners will also have to check in with the park they want to set their home up in as there are different requirements for every area. Some park models can only be of a certain size or colour, and sometimes additions like an enclosed porch are not prohibited. Overall, park models are a fabulous choice for affordable housing.
